“Using high-gloss paint on walls can create a bold ‘jewelry box’ effect in your home. I love to paint the whole room in one color, including the moldings and doors, to create a cozy and sexy space,” says Natalie Kraiem of Natalie Kraiem Interiors in New York.
Get The Look: High-gloss paint looks great in a bold color, but remember, when applying it, treat it like you would your makeup: Invest in quality brushes, and make sure the surface you’re painting is properly primed and free of dust, as a glossy finish tends not to be the most forgiving of flaws.
Go Gallery Style
“Art has been reaching new highs in popularity,” says Kraiem. “There are no rules for hanging art in your homes. From photography to lithographs or original paintings, the trick is on framing them right and hanging them in groups if they are small or go large for an unexpected look.”
Get The Look: Putting together the perfect gallery wall can take some time and effort (not to mention a really good framer). Framebridge’s new gallery wall kits make it easy to get the look you love. Choose from their picture-perfect gallery wall layouts and upload your photos. They custom frame your prints and ship everything (including a life-size hanging guide!) to your door, ready to hang.

Curves Ahead
“Very popular in mid-century design, curved sofas, sectionals, and curved-back hairs are the rage,” says Susan Glick of Susan Glick Interiors. “They soften and invite conversation in any room setting. Imagine used in gorgeous, rich velvets and chenilles. They provide a bit of sensuality and a ‘sexy’ vibe.”
Get The Look: As much as we love drooling over these kinds of vintage sofas on sites like ModShop, unfortunately, we definitely can’t afford them. Thankfully, it’s possible to find more reasonably priced chairs in this style from the likes of All Modern.

Moody Blues
“Mixed into today’s on-trend palette of neutrals or black and white, these colors are truly a ‘wow’ and a great accent or pop of color,” shares Glick. “They blend beautifully when combined with brass and bronze finishes, whether high shine or matte.”
Get The Look: If the color palette in your home is feeling a little blah, try livening it up with a bright blue rug (we like this one), or consider merging Glick’s advice with Kraiem’s and paint your ceiling a soft, eggshell shade that will add interest without being overpowering.

Metal Mania
“We are seeing more brass highlights all around the home, and into the kitchen as well. The brass really helps add a level of sophistication to any space, and we are seeing it used in some really innovative ways that are chic and refined,” shares Arielle Assouline-Lichten, founder of the design firm Slash Objects in New York.
Get The Look: We like brass items best when they’re ornate but not stuffy. Try a swanky-feeling side table, like this one from West Elm, or hang a sunburst mirror like this one from Hayneedle — which would look especially chic on a wall painted in a fun color, like purple or the aforementioned blue. We promise your space will feel immediately more glamorous.

Terrazzo Textures
“People are really taking terrazzo finishes to the next level, and we are going to be seeing a lot more terrazzo in kitchens and as accessories around the house. The texture and colors really add to any space and creates a tactile story for people to experience in a space,” says Assouline-Lichten.
Get The Look: Okay, so there’s a good chance you can’t afford to re-do your kitchen or bathroom in terrazzo — and there’s also a good chance your landlord is much less up on the trends than you are. No matter. Terrazzo accents come in the form of everything from mugs and candle holders to end tables and even area rugs, like this one from Burke Decor. Doesn’t it remind you of Funfetti cake?

“Bold patterns on rugs, and geometric patterns on wall coverings with black accents are very popular right now,” says Melanie Roy of Melanie Roy Design in New York.Get The Look: It’s true, you can hardly scroll through your Instagram feed these days without seeing at least one bold, patterned rug you suddenly need, and the trend doesn’t seem like it’s going anywhere. So put aside your rich Persian rugs in favor of one that’s less ornate and more abstract. It’ll lend your space an arty vibe while also making it feel more open and less cluttered — we love ones from Cold Picnic. If you don’t wanna spring for a large area rug, do a bath or welcome mat.

Good Looking Cooking
“Black stainless steel kitchen appliances are trending right now. They are smudge proof and offer a sleek alternative to traditional stainless steel. Also, many kitchen appliances are now available in vibrant color options,” Roy notes.
Get The Look: Once again, even if you’re not in a position to revamp the appliances in your kitchen, there are plenty of ways to add a touch of style. Great Jones, a new direct-to-consumer company, offers glossy silver pots and pans, and Dutch ovens in bright, matte colors that will bring your kitchen area to life in no time. If black stainless steel is more your thing, thanks to Cuisinart, that’s out there too.
