Tour Usher’s Bold Sunset Strip LA Home

Who knew R&B icon and former Voice coach Usher had such bold taste in interiors? The Yeah! artist and his wife Grace Miguel just put their Sunset Strip villa on the market to the tune of $4.2 million, according to Variety. If Usher’s walls could talk—er, sing—they’d top the charts with a moody ballad that’d put the music maven’s most memorable hits to shame.

Built in 1926, the art-filled abode (which sits just behind the famous Chateau Marmont) still boasts many of the classic rustic finishes that originally informed the Mediterranean-inspired home, including stenciled wood beamed ceilings, wrought iron terraces, and French doors. The perfect mix of old school charm and contemporary flair, the Dallas-born songwriter’s spacious West Coast spread spices up traditional Spanish-style interiors with artful statement lighting, metallic accents, and dramatic wall coverings.

No stranger to show-stopping moments, it comes as no surprise that the eight-time Grammy winner went with a major design risk in the entryway. Making a daring first impression, the exclusively black space sets a dramatic tone for the rest of the home, while also serving as an appropriate backdrop for treasured works of art and a mod, diamond-shaped light fixture. The original wrought iron staircase, however, serves as a charming counterpoint to the ultra contemporary entryway.

Dynamic wallpaper? We’re in. In keeping with the rest of the home’s moody sentiment, the formal dining room also features dark walls—but with a printed spin. Considering the singer’s close pal and former apprentice Justin Bieber is only a stone’s throw away, it’s safe to guess the pop star has feasted around this table a time or two.

The chef’s kitchen, on the other hand, strikes a lighter note with its matte gray cabinetry and clean marble backsplash. Potential buyers who aren’t particularly taken with all the drama going down in the other main living areas will find the cookhouse instantly refreshing. Decked out with Viking appliances and a cozy breakfast nook, this polished spot will speak to just about every amateur chef—no matter their preferred design aesthetic.

Upstairs, black paint makes a second appearance in the sun-filled master suite. Although it’s arguably the scariest hue to work with—especially in the bedroom—Usher certainly wasn’t intimidated by its powerful vibes.

An abundance of natural light streaming in on a daily basis through two large windows is guaranteed to bring a sense of balance to the dwelling. Not to mention, the estate’s next owners can quickly sneak outside to the suite’s private terrace for a little vitamin D when need be.

The all-marble master bathroom boasts a stellar soaking tub and spacious shower, as well as his and hers vanities. And while the ensuite boasts all the makings of a dream bathroom, we’d be kidding ourselves if we didn’t admit this pretty relaxation space is really all about the view.

Two guest bedrooms also sit on this floor, while another spare dwelling, along with a home theatre, can be found on the home’s main level.

Outside, enormous French doors lead out to one of the home’s many outdoor lounge spaces, where a plunge pool awaits for hot SoCal days. The tree-lined patio promises the gated, three-story residence remains out of sight from out of towners or paparazzi lurking the busy streets below.
